There is a song that I have been hearing quite a bit lately that has a haunting melody but a powerful message that we all need to hear. It strikes at the core of what many Jesus Followers struggle with from time to time. The fear that our prayers are bouncing off the ceilings and that even the God of the universe does not care. This is not true but we all deal with these feelings and we all need to hear the message of this song when we feel that way.

The first verse and chours follow and express the uncertainty and difficulty that we sometimes preceive in coming before an unseen God. We know, in our heads, that we are never alone but sometimes we don’t always feel that way…

Job 7:19 (New International Version)
19 Will you never look away from me,
or let me alone even for an instant?

I waited for you today
But you didn’t show
No no no
I needed You today
So where did You go?
You told me to call
Said You’d be there
And though I haven’t seen You
Are You still there?

I cried out with no reply
And I can’t feel You by my side
So I’ll hold tight to what I know
You’re here and I”m never alone

Now for the encouraging part of the song. As the music picks up we begin to read about how the God of the Universe touches our lives during these struggles.

Hebrews 13:5b
God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

And though I cannot see You
And I can’t explain why
Such a deep, deep reassurance
You’ve placed in my life

We cannot separate
‘Cause You’re part of me
And though You’re invisible
I’ll trust the unseen

The chours now takes on a different tone. One of understanding that I may not always feel God is near but despite how I feel the God of the universe is always near. I can rest in that fact.

I cried out with no reply
And I can’t feel You by my side
So I’ll hold tight to what I know
You’re here and I”m never alone

We cannot separate
‘Cause You’re part of me
And though You’re invisible
I’ll trust the unseen

Trust the God of the Universe, He will never leave you alone. Trust the unseen!
