As I grow older I’ve begun to look at my walk with Christ. I’ve tried figuring out how my life can better show the Word of God.

I’ve come to realize that we as Christians are not serious about God and His Bible. We talk a good talk. We pray a good prayer. But, when it comes down to it, we don’t take it to heart. We hen peck the things from the scriptures. Things that make us feel good, and forget anything that may make us uncomfortable. We don’t study beyond a surface knowledge of the scriptures. Not with an honest desire to know Him.

What we do.

We leave out the “Love your enemies” part of being a Christian. (Matthew 5:43-48)

We forget about “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. (Matthew 7:12)

We ignore “let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths”. (Ephesians 4:29)

Don’t even mention feeding the poor (James 2:14-17)! Or loving one another (1 John 4:7 [agápē love, as in friendship, compassion, forgiveness, charity] ).

What is holding us back from being serious in our passion for the Lord?
